Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying

  • A copy of our district  You may have received this policy in a condensed form from your building principal. It is important to note that this policy applies to all acts of harassment, intimidation and bullying that occur on 天美视频 property, at 天美视频-sponsored functions or on a 天美视频 bus.

     
    Our district uses a number of approaches to encourage students to respect each other and to report any and all behavior that could be construed as bullying. We encourage you to speak to your child about this subject and to discuss the protections offered through this policy.

Health Curriculum and Family Life Instruction

  • The 天美视频 School 天美视频 follows the 2020 New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Comprehensive Health and Physical Education, which also includes family life education and sex education. Information about these standards - including an easy-to-read outline of each standard and how they are applied in age-appropriate ways - can be found through the link below.

    NJ law allows parents to opt their children out of instruction in health, family life education or sex education. 

    18A:35-4.7. Parent's statement of conflict with conscience
    Any child whose parent or guardian presents to the 天美视频 principal a signed statement that any part of the instructions in health, family life education or sex education is in conflict with his conscience, or sincerely held moral or religious beliefs shall be excused from that portion of the course where such instruction is being given and no penalties as to credit or graduation shall result therefrom.

    Letters for Grade 5, 8 and 11 students will be sent via email to the student and the parent/guardian before the Health Lessons are presented:

    for Grade 5 this will be in May 2024;

    for Grade 8 this will be before the Second Semester; 

    for Grade 11 it will be on or before October 12 for Semester 1; On or before February 28, 2023 for Semester 2.

    If an opt-out component is chosen - the emailed letter is to be returned fully completed - to the child's Physical Education Teacher by the date designated in the communication.

    Parents/guardians may also submit a letter to their child's Physical Education Teacher if you would like to opt your children out of instruction in health, family life education or sex education.

    • Please submit a signed letter to your child's Physical Education Teacher by October 1 of a given 天美视频 year, or at any other time you are invited to do so by your child's Physical Education Teacher and/or Principal.

Outstanding Food Service Charges

  • Our policy for how the district will handle instances when a student may accrue an outstanding balance for food service charges, including our plan to provide a meal for that student and to contact his or her guardians to arrange for the account to be brought current. .

Free and Reduced Meal Applications

  • This notice encourages families in financial need to apply for Free or Reduced Lunch services. You can now apply ONLINE for Free or Reduced Lunch and receive a determination IMMEDIATELY if you qualify.  NOTE: If you received benefits last year, you must re-apply by Oct. 20 to avoid an interruption in your benefits.

    • Think you don’t qualify for Free or Reduced Lunch? You might! Income limits have increased and MANY more families qualify now.
    • Don’t eat 天美视频 lunch? Still apply!  If eligible, you may qualify for other benefits, discounts, or grants.
    • Don’t think it matters? It does!  The district receives additional funding based on the number of eligible students - and those funds support ALL students!
